SUCCESS


What is success?

Certainly not what almost everyone
thinks is success.

To have more money?
Have people at your service?
A bigger, prettier house?
Have more pleasures, more sex?
To be respected by everyone?
Travel anywhere?

No, success cannot be this ...
It must be somewhat less contingent.
Not one thing, not an accumulation
of things, but a result
that comes with every day.
Something that is added.

Success - I guess - is simple
and simply live.

Grandfather dies.
Father dies.
Son dies.

This formula,
apparently macabre,
is the peak of Taoist wisdom
and encloses the notion of success of Zen:

First the grandfather leaves;
then the father;
and until the end the son.
This is the natural order.

And success consists
in not altering in the least
the flow of the spontaneous order of things
that always follows its due course.

This is true prosperity.
 

 

 

ÉXITO


¿Qué es el éxito?

Ciertamente no lo que casi todo el mundo
piensa que es el éxito.

¿Tener más dinero?
¿Tener gente a su servicio?
¿Una casa más grande, más bonita?
¿tener más placeres, más sexo?
¿Ser respetado por todos?
¿Viajar a donde sea?

No, el éxito no puede ser esto…
Debe ser algo menos contingente.
No una cosa, ni una acumulación
de cosas, sino un resultado
que viene con todos los días.
Algo que se da por añadidura.

El éxito –creo yo– es simple
y sencillamente vivir.

EL abuelo muere.
El padre muere.
El hijo muere.

Esta fórmula,
aparentemente macabra,
es la cima de la sabiduría taoísta
y encierra la noción de éxito del zen:

Primero se va el abuelo;
después el padre;
y hasta el final el hijo.
Éste es el orden natural.

Y el éxito consiste
en no alterar en lo más mínimo
el flujo del orden espontáneo de las cosas
que sigue siempre su cauce.

Ésta es la verdadera prosperidad.
